There is a village shop and pub, and all other amenities can be found in nearby Monmouth and Chepstow. Tintern Abbey is three miles away.
Stairs lead down to the snug with large inglenook fireplace (c. 1740) and original beams. This opens into an imposing living room which is a quiet haven with river and valley views. These can be particularly appreciated from the adjoining conservatory. The living room has a flat-screen TV with Sky Plus and a stereo sound system.
The farmhouse kitchen (1860s) has an oil-fired Aga, slate flooring and traditional furniture including the original stripped dresser from the former bakery. Modern equipment includes a microwave, fridge-freezer, electric oven, dishwasher, bread-maker and TV.
There is a marbled bathroom with whirlpool bath and power shower, and a porch leading onto the garden. The utility area houses a washing machine.
Upstairs is the large master bedroom, with fine views over the valley, and two further double bedrooms, one with valley views and the other with original beams and painted pine-panelled ceiling. Also there is an upstairs WC with separate shower.
The split-level garden is attractively laid out with two paved terraces, a large stone-built pond and water feature plus small lawns.
To the side of the house a little-used path leads down to the peaceful riverbank where walking, swimming and canoeing can be enjoyed.
